Crimson Tide softball edged by Wildcats

The fourth-ranked University of Alabama softball team hit line drives Friday night.

The Crimson Tide had some hard-luck at-bats in a 3-2 loss to the 11th-ranked Wildcats in front of a crowd of 2,957 at Rhoads Stadium.

No less than six of Alabama's outs came on hard-hit balls right at defenders. Kentucky pitcher Kelsey Nunley, who held UA to five hits, caught one liner right in the gut, and another out came on a ball that deflected off her glove to the shortstop, who threw to first in time for the out.

"I thought we did everything but win tonight," All-American outfielder Haylie McCleney said.
