ICYMI: Alabama Football: Harbaugh More Popular Than Saban??
Last night, former Alabama Crimson Tide defensive back Maurice Smith was granted a full release from the program after a long, drawn-out, and very public battle.
Smith has been trying to transfer to the University of Georgia to join his former defensive coordinator, new UGA head coach Kirby Smart. However, Crimson Tide head man Nick Saban had been blocking the transfer because, among other things, it was a within-conference request. And that’s a no-no.
Smith is still attempting to become a Bulldog, but his request is pending a waiver from the SEC office stating that the switch from West to East is approved.
