To kick off the SEC Softball Tournament in College Station, the Southeastern Conference announced its annual softball awards on Wednesday.
Alabama saw first hand how good Abbey Cheek of Kentucky has been. For her performance this season, she was named SEC Player of the Year. The rest of the big awards will be heading back to Tuscaloosa.
Sarah Cornell was named Pitcher of the Year, while teammate Montana Fouts earned Freshman of the Year honors. Bama head coach Patrick Murphy was chosen as the Coach of the Year. The awards were voted on by the league’s head coaches.
