AUBURN, Ala. – Alabama cut a 20-point deficit down to six but was unable to get any closer in a 72-59 loss to Auburn in women’s basketball action Thursday evening in Auburn Arena. With the loss, the Crimson Tide moves to 12-5 overall and 1-3 in Southeastern Conference play, while the win brings the Tigers to 12-5 on the season and 2-2 against league opponents.
Alabama led 13-12 at the end of the first after the tip-in from senior Nikki Hegstetter at the buzzer, but Auburn outscored the Tide 18-7 in the second quarter to take a 30-20 advantage into the locker room at the half.
