Clemson has added four new tombstones to its football graveyard, including one for Alabama.
The tombstones were added Wednesday to the graveyard, which is located near the school’s football practice facility.
Since 1989, Clemson has commemorated significant wins – a ranked opponent on the road, a bowl game or a championship game – by adding tombstones to the graveyard. Overall, the Tigers now have 32 tombstones, including 13 that have been added under current coach Dabo Swinney.
The Alabama tombstone signifies Clemson’s 35-31 national championship win over the Crimson Tide in January, which was a rematch of the same game from one year earlier.
