During his four seasons at Alabama, wide receiver Cam Sims caught 41 passes for 467 yards and two touchdowns, never exceeding 14 receptions in a year.
Those kinds of numbers don't usually result in a place in the NFL Draft, and they didn't for Sims. But at 6-foot-5, Sims tantalized pro talent evaluators, and he attracted a free-agent offer from the Washington Redskins.
Sims made a good impression during Washington's offseason program, too, with coach Jay Gruden singling him out among the undrafted players.
"Cam has stood out at wide receiver. I think (Danny) Johnson stood out at corner," Gruden said.
