At first glance, Butch Jones salary at Alabama is notable.
Recently hired as an analyst, the former Tennessee head coach will be paid $35,000 a year, according to the response to an open records request filed with the university. That puts him on the same level as most other who hold the staff-level position.

His firing from Tennessee last November came with a buyout of $8.2 million. Paid monthly, it works out to checks in the range of $200,000 or $2.4 million a year.
