Both of Northridge High School's NFL players released on same day

The New England Patriots released safety Vinnie Sunseri from their practice squad on Monday.

The former Alabama standout joined New England on July 24 and signed with the Patriots' practice squad after being released in the final cut to reach the regular-season roster limit in September.

Sunseri was an Under Armour All-American and the Class 6A Lineman of the Year in 2010 at Northridge High School in Tuscaloosa.

Also on Monday, the Cleveland Browns waived fullback Malcolm Johnson, who, like Sunseri, was a prep standout at Northridge.
