Nick Saban would be the first to agree many college football fans have some misperceptions about football players. One misperception is a distinction that labels certain players as skill players. Skills do vary among various football positions, but all players are skilled. Some of the individual skills are just a bit less obvious than others.
Other than tackles for a loss, sacks or pancake blocks it is hard for fans to see all the skills being used by offensive and defensive linemen. Both groups are so generally underappreciated by fans, the term ‘Big Uglies’ was often used for decades.
