For the third time in as many years, the University of Alabama gymnastics team will start its SEC gymnastics title campaign on balance beam, and close on uneven bars.
In 2014 and 2015, the Crimson Tide clinched on the apparatus. In 2014, the last routine of the night, Alabama overtook Florida after the Gators’ last floor exercise pass landed out of bounds. In 2015, it was senior Lauren Beers closing out LSU and Florida with the fifth routine on the last rotation, securing the first back-to-back conference championships in Alabama’s history.
With just 0.33 separating Florida, LSU and Alabama’s regional qualifying score, and Auburn not far behind, the 2016 edition could be similarly close.
