That's a big part of University of Alabama softball coach Patrick Murphy's philosophy. It was the key to Wednesday night's 4-2 victory over South Alabama at Rhoads Stadium.
Each team hit a home run, and each scored had two runs until the bottom of the fourth inning. With two runners in scoring position and two outs in the bottom of the fourth, Peyton Grantham's swing hit the top of the ball and drove it into the dirt in front of home plate.
Both runners were in motion, but all South Alabama had to do was make a routine throw for the force-out at first base.
