AUBURN | The University of Alabama basketball team had its opportunities on Tuesday night, but found it hard to overcome a few unforced errors and a long night of whistles.
Despite making just one field goal in the final 11 minutes, AU was able to capitalize at the foul line, making 11 of 19 free throws in the final six minutes to hold off the Crimson Tide 83-77 for Bruce Pearl's first coaching win in the rivalry.
Alabama appeared to have a final chance when the Tigers' Kareem Canty was whistled for traveling with 33 seconds to play, but the call was overruled, sending Canty to the line.
