A'Shawn Robinson shows knack for 'blocking shots' by quarterbacks

Former Alabama All-American A'Shawn Robinson made his first NFL start on Thanksgiving, helping the Detroit Lions defeat the Minnesota Vikings 16-13.

Among Robinson's contribution against Minnesota was an incomplete pass caused when he tipped the ball just after it came out of quarterback Sam Bradford's hand. It was the fifth time this year that he's knocked down a pass, which is the most for a defensive tackle in the NFL this season.

"A'Shawn has batted balls down that have stopped drives," Detroit defensive coordinator Teryl Austin said. "I think those are invaluable.
