The scent of victory cigars swirled through Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday evening and served as a bitter reminder to Tennessee head coach Butch Jones that his Volunteers had suffered yet another heart-breaking defeat this season.
In the aftermath of his team’s 19-14 loss to the eighth-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide, Jones tried to contain his emotions.
“Every loss is painful because you invest so much in it,” Jones said. “Everyone talked about the culture and the belief. We believed that we were going to win the football game. We came up short and I hurt.
