Many talented offensive linemen have made their way through Alabama football, but the leader of the next wave is preparing himself to anchor the future of the Crimson Tide.
He came in the 2023 recruiting class with names such as Kadyn Proctor, Wilkin Formby, Olaus Alinen, and Myles McVay; however, he may become the best of the group. This former four-star arrived as an in-state talent from Anniston (Ala.) High School, but his versatility has caught the eye of Alabama’s offensive line coach, Chris Kapilovic. Roq Montgomery, formerly known as Ryqueze McElderry, was underrated in high school. He played in two games for the Tide’s 2023 Southeastern Conference Championship team, but he could be needed more this season — especially with the new 12-team playoff.
