In researching another story about the upcoming College Football Playoff National Championship Game, I was surprised to discover that Alabama and Georgia had met just 15 times in football since 1965.
To reiterate, that's 15 meetings in 52 years -- roughly one every 3.4 seasons -- between schools that have been members of the same conference since 1933. And they're flagship institutions located in states that share a border more than 300 miles long.
Which got me to thinking ... shouldn't Alabama and Georgia play every year in football? Why don't they?
