Alabama track and field’s Quanesha Burks used a personal best performance on the long jump on Thursday to win the 2015 NCAA title.
Burks, a sophomore from Hartselle, AL, came into the event as the top seed and won with a 22 foot, 8-inch jump. This is Alabama’s first women’s field title since 2005, first jump title since 1989, and first outdoor jump title since 1983.
The finals of the women’s long jump competition featured two strong competitors from the University of Oregon competing on their own track. Track and field is a big deal to Oregon fans, and there was a loud and very supportive crowd on hand.
