For the second time in three days, Alabama senior defensive lineman Jonathan Allen has won a national award.
On Wednesday, the Ted Hendricks Foundation announced that Allen was the 2016 winner of the Ted Hendricks Award, which is presented annually to the top defensive end in college football.
Allen received more than 50 percent of the final votes tallied by the Hendricks selection committee to become Alabama’s first receipt of the award. Utah’s Hunter Dimick finished in second with more than 25 percent of the vote, with Tennessee’s Derek Barnett, Boston College’s Harold Landry, Pitsburgh’s Ejuan Price and Florida State’s DeMarcus Walker shared the remaining vote.
