It has dealt with poor defensive performance in the past, but everyone was excited to see this year’s Alabama group — especially with the veteran players returning.
During the offseason, Crimson Tide fans and reporters expected Alabama to be the standard of college football and rival recent Tide defenses such as 2011 and 2016. After strong outings versus Miami and Mercer, the Tide had one good quarter defensively against Florida. Despite having a 21-3 lead, Alabama struggled for three-fourths of the game, and fans were disappointed.
