Two Alabama players, offensive tackle Cam Robinson and safety Laurence “Hootie” Jones” were arrested early Tuesday morning in their hometown of Monroe, La.
Ouachita Parish jail records show that the two were arrested on marijuana and weapons charges. Both have been released.
The arresting officer wrote that as he approached their car in a Monroe park, he noticed a strong odor of marijuana and noticed a gun on Jones’ lap. After the two were removed from the car, officers found a bag of marijuana on the floorboard and “a stolen handgun under the seat.”
Robinson, who missed spring practice because of injuries, will be a third-year starter at left tackle and will be a strong contender for All-American honors this fall; in addition, he already is considered a likely first-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
