Alabama's 166-pound punt returner makes moves, Nick Saban wants more

To this point, Xavian Marks' stat line was brief.

The 5-foot-8, 166-pound receiver caught two passes late Alabama's win over Charleston Southern. One carry gained no yards.

So his second-quarter punt return was something special. The 75-yard touchdown was the first of his career and gave Alabama a 41-point halftime lead in a 48-0 win over Kent State. His participation was part of Nick Saban's experimentation to find depth at certain positions.

"We need more guys to be able to play on these teams so we don't have to play guys that are starters, especially if they can make a significant contribution," Saban said.
