Alabama wide receiver Henry Ruggs III will also run track for the Crimson Tide, the school announced Thursday.
Ruggs, specifically, will run sprints as part of the Alabama track and field team.
Ruggs, who 247Sports ranked as a five-star prospect and the nation’s No. 1 wide out, enrolled at Alabama on Tuesday.
Last month, the 6-foot, 175-pound Ruggs, who attended Robert E. Lee High School in Montgomery, won the Alabama 7A state championship in the 100-meter dash. He won the race with a 7A meet record time of 10.58 seconds.
Last fall, Ruggs had 38 catches for 664 yards and 10 touchdowns on the Lee football team.
