Alabama volleyball team starts season wanting to make history

History and tradition.

For some University of Alabama fans, those words can evoke memories of the late Paul W. “Bear” Bryant or the more recent national titles won under former gymnastics coach Sarah Patterson. Success in varsity sports at Alabama often means competing with, and beating, the best of the best.

One sport still looking to achieve that level of success is volleyball. Team captain Sierra Wilson said she has embraced those expectations.

“Alabama doesn’t have too strong of a history in volleyball,” Wilson said. “This is a town that knows what it wants, and it wants winners.
