The University of Alabama didn't have a lot of hits against Cal on Saturday at the Tuscaloosa Regional.
It didn't need many.
The Crimson Tide won its 30th consecutive regional game, a best-in-the-nation streak that dates back to 2007, by using the same formula that has been working for years: timely hitting, clutch hitting and a key play on defense. UA defeated Cal 3-1 at Rhoads Stadium to advance to Sunday's regional final.
Alabama (48-12), seeded sixth nationally, will play at today 1:30 p.m., and is one win away from advancing to host next week's super regional round.
