Teammates described him as the “human joystick” upon his arrival from Houston, Texas in the 2018 class.
He immediately turned heads in fall camp and Nick Saban was not going to have him off the field. As a freshman, Waddle took college football by storm – totaling 45 receptions for 848 yards and seven touchdowns. He was the Southeastern Conference’s Freshman of the Year, made the SEC All-Freshman Team and was an All-American.
