Jalen Hurts no longer qualifies for a redshirt season in 2018.
The Crimson Tide backup quarterback, who served as the starter the two previous seasons, entered Alabama's game against Louisiana on Saturday with 53 seconds left in the first quarter.
It was Hurts' fifth appearance this season, which means the junior from Channelview, Texas surpassed the limit the NCAA mandated when it passed a rule this June that allowed players to maintain a year of eligibility if they played in four games or fewer.
There has been speculation Hurts could redshirt this year ever since the new legislation came into effect.
