Ryan Grubb could have possibly coached at Alabama under Nick Saban before Kalen DeBoer took over as the Tide’s head coach.
Saban attempted to add Grubb to his Alabama staff before the 2023 football season as an offensive coordinator. Grubb decided to stay at Washington to coach under Kalen DeBoer.
Reporters asked Grubb about his decision Wednesday as he talked to the media for the first time at the Tide’s offensive coordinator on Wednesday.
“That was really hard, respect the heck out of Coach Saban,” Grubb said. “That one was a little bit more just the guys I had in the locker room at Washington and, Michael Penix, the relationship I had with him and Rome Odunze and Jalen McMillan, Troy Fautanu, those guys all went to the NFL.
