OXFORD, Miss. – The Alabama men’s basketball team began conference play with a loss at Ole Miss (11-3, 1-1 SEC). The Crimson Tide controlled the first half but let the game get away in the second thanks to being outscored 42-26 after the break.
The Rebels, opening their new facility The Pavilion, took an early 25-15 lead on the back of a 7-0 run and 6-of-8 free throw shooting. Alabama (9-4, 0-1 SEC) responded with a 25-7 run over the last 8:36 of the first half to take a 40-32 lead. Senior guard Retin Obasohan and graduate transfer Arthur Edwards each scored 14 points in the opening frame.
