Alabama losing another coach with grad assistant Doug Belk joining West Virginia

Less than a week after losing offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian to the Atlanta Falcons, Alabama reportedly will lose another assistant. Defensive graduate assistant Doug Belk is expected to join West Virginia as its cornerbacks coach, according to the Gazette-Mail on Friday.

Belk, who reportedly interviewed for the position on Tuesday, worked with Alabama’s secondary. The former Carson-Newman quarterback and receiver began his coaching career in 2011 as a graduate assistant at Valdosta State, where he eventually earned a full-time job. During his tenure, the Blazers won a Division II national championship in 2012.

Belk joined Alabama’s staff in 2014.
