Khalid Kareem, a four-star defensive end from Harrison High School in Farmington Hills, Mich., surprised many in his home state on Wednesday when he announced his commitment to the University of Alabama instead of Michigan.
The former Michigan State commitment re-opened his recruitment and traveled to many schools in the past few months including two trips to Tuscaloosa with his family. Kareem becomes commitment No.16 for Alabama in the 2016 class. He is the first prospect from Michigan to commit to the Crimson Tide since former Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram in 2008. He is recruited by Alabama assistant coach Bobby Williams.
