Alabama football had more than $47 million profit in 2015-16 fiscal year

Alabama didn’t win the national championship, but it still made a lot of money in 2016.

The football program made a $47.8 million ($47,794,452) profit during the 2015-16 fiscal year, according to financial documents obtained by the Tuscaloosa News.

Alabama football earned close to $103.9 million ($103,871,075) in total revenue with operating expenses of $56 million. The program earned nearly $21 million in media right fees, more than $37 million in ticket sales and $5 million from bowl revenues.

Coaches salaries and bowl expenses cost the program $14 million and $9 million, respectively, of its $56 million in expenses.
