On the Paul Finebaum show, former Auburn head coach Pat Dye was amazingly candid about the chasm that divides the traditions of Alabama football and Auburn football.
Pat Dye may not have done his school a favor when he spoke on Finebaum. No doubt many Auburn fans will not embrace his candor. In similar fashion many college football fans, particularly Alabama football fans label Dye a foolish ‘old coot’ – not worthy of serious attention.
That is a mistake. Dye knows football, particularly SEC football. Having been an assistant at Alabama under Paul Bryant for nine years and Auburn’s head coach for 12 years, Dye is an expert.
