The series between Alabama football and Mississippi State goes back to 1896. The Crimson Tide leads the series 82-17-3. The Bulldogs have beaten Alabama football only three times this century. Those losses came in 2000, 2006 and 2007.
Perhaps more than any other loss, the 2006 game cost Mike Shula his job as Crimson Tide head coach. The final score in that 24-16, Bulldogs win did not fairly reflect how much Sylvester Croom’s team physically dominated the Crimson Tide. The Bulldogs finished the 2006 season with only three wins.
Dan Mullen achieved zero, series wins as the Mississippi State head coach.
