Alabama fans have had mixed feelings about Pete Golding since he entered the Crimson Tide’s program in 2018.
He’s been a defensive coordinator for three seasons and has improved each year. Tide fans saw the greatness of Kirby Smart and Jeremy Pruitt as defensive play-callers and want the same from Golding. Smart and Pruitt had guys executing plays, sacking quarterbacks, stopping running backs, creating turnovers, and the defense leading the nation in all major categories.
Fans have not seen this from Golding, and some are growing concerned. Defenses in college football can still be elite in an offensive culture, especially after Georgia’s defense ran through everyone in 2021.
