Alabama basketball moves forward without Ingram

University of Alabama men's basketball coach Avery Johnson said that Friday morning's ankle surgery on promising freshman point guard Dazon Ingram was "successful, l" but didn't downplay the emotional impact on his player.

"If I say he was 'very disappointed' or 'crushed,' that doesn't adequately describe it," Johnson said Friday. "He's devastated. The young man had worked all summer and had become a big part of our team. But we talked it over. It's disappointing, but it's not life and death. One of my homeboys, John 'Hot Rod' illiams (a star at Tulane University while Johnson was playing high school basketball in New Orleans), died today at 53.
