HOOVER | Southern Mississippi belted a pair of home runs to beat the Crimson Tide, 6-2, in a rain-shorted seven-inning game with 2,354 in attendance at the Hoover Met.
“They had four rainouts already and we kind of rolled the dice and played in sloppy conditions,” Alabama coach Mitch Gaspard said. “(Southern Miss) did a good job. They left the yard twice. I thought (Nick) Eicholtz threw the ball really good but they executed and put some good swings on him and were able to build a lead.
