The seventh season of Mitch Gaspard will be his last one in Tuscaloosa.

According to a release from the school, Alabama head coach Mitch Gaspard has stepped down as the head baseball coach at the University of Alabama.

“Mitch and I met last Friday to discuss how the season has gone and possibilities for postseason play,” athletics director Bill Battle said. “At that time, he expressed to me his wishes to resign as baseball coach.

“While that conversation was supposed to serve as a prelude to our annual postseason discussion on the state of the program, I accepted his resignation only on the basis that it would not officially be in effect until our season had formally concluded.
