The SEC spring meetings in Destin, FL continued Wednesday with Alabama Athletic Director Greg Byrne speaking to the media. Byrne reaffirmed a long-standing University of Alabama policy on the Tide playing in-state competition:
Alabama AD Greg Byrne says he doesn't foresee Alabama scheduling in-state schools for non-conference games.
But why?
The state of Alabama is loaded with multiple teams that could bring thousands of fans to Bryant-Denny Stadium without the burden of taking out a small loan to get to Tuscaloosa. Among them, SunBelt Conference programs such as South Alabama and Troy routinely play SEC schools; neither have ever played against Alabama.
