The Oakland Raiders will play in the final game of the NFL's opening week of the 2018 season. Quarterback AJ McCarron is using that extra time getting up to speed with the Raiders' offense.
Oakland will kick off the campaign at 9:20 p.m. CDT Monday against the Los Angeles Rams, the second half of an ESPN doubleheader. McCarron joined the team on Saturday in a trade with the Buffalo Bills. The Raiders released Connor Cook and E.J. Manuel, the players vying to be Derek Carr's backup, to put McCarron in that position.
"It's not the easiest thing in the world," McCarron told reporters in the Oakland locker room after practice on Thursday.
