Reuben Foster more than just hard-hitting linebacker for Alabama

Robert Sutton

Early in the second half of The University of Alabama’s season opener against Wisconsin last Saturday, on a 3rd-and-16 play, Badgers running back Dare Ogunbowale feigned a block and released into space, caught a screen pass from quarterback Joel Stave, and turned toward a wide open field.

Unfortunately for him, that wide-open field waited behind Alabama linebacker Reuben Foster, who hit the running back’s blindside, tackling him for a 2-yard loss. It was a solid tackle, which isn’t surprising for the player who laid a titanic hit on LSU running back Leonard Fournette last year, but it also showcased a skill the Auburn native hadn’t gotten a chance to display.
