The grandson of one of Alabama’s greatest defenders is set to play his college football on the other side of the ball at West Virginia.
Three-star quarterback Trey Lowe, grandson of former Crimson Tide All-American linebacker Woodrow Lowe, committed to West Virginia Tuesday afternoon in a decision announced in a Vimeo video.
Lowe (6 feet 3, 185 pounds) attends Bolivar (Tenn.) Central, which is about 70 miles east of Memphis. His other Power Five offers included Illinois and North Carolina.
West Virginia’s current starting quarterback is former Florida transfer Will Grier.
Although he had taken an unofficial visit to Alabama for “A-Day” in 2016, Lowe did not have an offer from Alabama.
