The Alabama Crimson Tide are nearly halfway through the regular season, but that doesn't mean they've slowed down on the recruiting trail. In fact, the Tide's 2017 class already ranks No. 2 nationally with 21 commitments. Here are all the latest Alabama football recruiting news:
Tide the favorite for 4-star LB
Dax Hollifield, a 2018 four-star linebacker from Shelby, NC, visited Tuscaloosa last weekend, and left with the Tide at the top of his list.
"It was amazing," Hollifield told 247sports of the visit. "An incredible experience. Walking out of the tunnel before the game, it took my breath away. It's an awesome place."
Alabama didn't offer Hollifield during the visit, but if one comes, he'll commit.
"We just talked and they said to come back anytime I like, and that they'll keep evaluating me. That's my dream school. I'd love to go there."
The 6'1", 220-pounder is ranked as the No. 2 inside linebacker and No. 123 overall prospect in the country.
5-star Alabama commit says "best visit" was to Ann Arbor
Five-star offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood (Pensacola, FL) committed to Alabama in June 2015, but it seems like he isn't completely sold on that commitment. After taking an official visit to Michigan, he tweeted that it was the best visit he had:
Tbh my Michigan visit it was by far the best visit I've ever been on. Best fans and an amazing city I'll definitely be back #GoBlue
— Alex Leatherwood (@Alskee_) October 4, 2016
Leatherwood is still also considering Florida, Miami and USC, but Michigan is thought to be Alabama's biggest competition. The 6'6", 327-pounder is ranked as the No. 2 offensive tackle and No. 5 overall prospect in the country.
