This shouldn't come as much of a surprise, but now it's official: Amari Cooper is headed for the NFL draft.
The Alabama junior has been in lethal form this year, racking up 1656 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns so far. Cooper was named one of three finalists for the Heisman trophy, joining Oregon's Marcus Mariota and Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon. Cooper has already been named SEC Offensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press.
“I don’t have to worry about him coming back next year. That’s pretty much done with,” Kiffin told 103.7 The Buzz in Little Rock, Ark. following the Broyles Award banquet.
Cooper is widely projected as a top-5 pick in the NFL Draft, with several analysts putting him in the top 3. Cooper is the unanimously rated as the #1 wide receiver in college football after breaking the 200-yard receiving mark in three games this year, going for 224 in games against Tennessee and Auburn.
