In Alabama football rumors tonight, former Crimson Tide star quarterback A.J. McCarron may be a dark horse first round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft -- if what some NFL teams have been saying is to be believed.
Per Nate Bouda of NFLTradeRumors.co, "McCarron says that NFL teams mentioned that they they have a first-round grade on him."
“They felt like I could go anywhere from 16-35,” McCarron said, via information obtained from Al.com. “I believe that, too. At the same time, I don’t have my hopes set on anything. Whatever happens, happens. It’s a blessing for me to even be in this situation.”
The Dallas Cowboys sit at #16 and may not be looking to draft an heir apparent to Tony Romo so highly when they have other pressing needs to attend to.
However, McCarron has met with a host of teams with quarterback needs including the Browns, Rams, and Patriots. While most draft experts have McCarron landing somewhere in the second or third round, don't be surprised if a surprise team has him higher on their draft boards than any of the experts expect.
