The Alabama Crimson Tide gained a big boost on the recruiting trail when LB Markail Benton, the No. 1 prospect in the state Alabama, listed the Tide in his top five.
“I’ve always been an Alabama fan,” Benton said, via 247sports. “I’ve gone to a lot of games in the past, and I always have a good time. The coaches are really good. I talk to Coach (Nick) Saban and Coach (Kirby) Smart. They tell me they like how I play and that I do everything good. They told me I run well and they love how I tackle. They said to just keep doing what I’m doing and as far as any improvements they’ll work with me on them when I get there.
“It’s a good school. I’ve liked Alabama every since I was little kid. I’ve had the chance to meet the coaches and I know a few of the players and I just like it.”
Benton admits Auburn is recruiting him the hardest, and the Tigers join Alabama with Florida State, Georgia, and Mississippi State in his top five.
The 6'2", 214-pound linebacker currently doesn't have plans to visit Tuscaloosa this Spring, though that could change.
