The Alabama Crimson Tide celebrated huge victories over the LSU Tigers and Mississippi State Bulldogs (and a likely ascent in the College Football Playoff standings) with a well-deserved rest.
Head coach Nick Saban had his players watch film and attend meetings on Monday, but he decided to keep the team off the practice field in order to let them get their wind after two bruising victories.
"It gives us the time to heal up and for the players to use the time to get some rest because we have tough games coming up," Saban said. "We're just like being in the playoffs now. We can't afford to lose so every game is a big game."
Defensive end Jonathan Allen knew the time was right for the team to take a break.
"This resting period is going to be big for us," Allen said. "We have a couple of guys nicked up, not as bad as before, but it's just good to let the body heal and recover."
