DeKALB, Ill.- The Akron softball team split a Mid-American Conference twinbill at Northern Illinois on Friday at Mary M. Bell Field.
The Zips lost 3-1 in the first game, and rebounded in the nightcap with a 10-3 win over NIU.
The Zips improved to 12-14 overall and 1-1 in MAC play. The Huskies fell to 12-11 overall and 1-1 in league play.
"I was very pleased with our response to the loss in game one," said head coach Julie Jones. "Kooper and Lexie did a good job of holding NIU's offense in check, and we hit the ball very well.
