CLEVELAND — The Mid-American Conference announced the 2016 football schedule on Monday, and the University of Akron football team will play on national television a minimum of four times. Additionally, the Zips' Wagon Wheel rivalry game with Kent State has been moved to October.
Akron, which finished the 2015 season at 8-5 overall under head coach Terry Bowden, opens the 2016 season against Virginia Military Institute (VMI) on Saturday, Sept. 3 (date change).
