AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Zips, under the guidance of sixth-year head coach Terry Bowden, ushered in the first day of spring with their first practice session on Monday.
The team will practice through Thursday before taking next week off to enjoy spring break before resuming spring drills on April 4.
Joining the Zips this spring is redshirt sophomore QB Nick Johns (Leesburg, Va.) who enrolled in classes in January. Akron returns 57 letterwinners, including 15 starters, to its spread offense and 4-3 defense.
