Zips Drop Home Opener Twinbill to Cleveland State

AKRON, Ohio- The Akron softball team dropped two games to Cleveland State in its home opener on Tuesday at Lee R. Jackson Field.

The Zips (12-17 overall) lost the first game, 8-5, and the second game, 7-6 in six innings due to darkness. The Vikings improved to 4-18 overall.

In the first game, the Zips got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning from an RBI single from senior OF Savannah Fruin (Delray Beach, Fla.). She scored on a passed ball, which gave the Zips an early 2-0 lead.

Cleveland State answered back in the tip of the third inning on an RBI double to center field that closed the Zips lead to 2-1.
